Our Adoptable Dogs
Adoption Requirements
Adopting a dog from White Rose Sanctuary is a rewarding experience. To ensure the best match for both the dog and your family, we have outlined some key requirements. Our goal is to create a lifelong bond between you and your new furry friend.
Home Environment
We require a safe and secure home environment. This includes a fenced yard or a commitment to regular walks and exercise. Our team will conduct a home visit to ensure the space is suitable for the dog’s needs.
Financial Stability
Potential adopters must demonstrate financial stability to cover the costs of food, veterinary care, and other necessities. We believe that a stable home is crucial for the well-being of our dogs.
Commitment to Care
Adopting a dog is a long-term commitment. We look for adopters who are ready to provide love, care, and attention for the entirety of the dog’s life. Training and socialization are also important aspects of responsible pet ownership.
Resources
Local and national resources for adoption and dog care.
Save a Life
BEFORE YOU ADOPT
Meet your new best friend
At White Rose Sanctuary, we believe in the importance of finding the perfect furry companion for your home. Our rescue goes to great lengths to match you with a dog that aligns with your preferences, but we also urge you to take your responsibility seriously and conduct proper research before making a decision. It is crucial to consider any constraints, such as housing, exercise, financial responsibilities, and more, that may impact your ability to provide proper care. By doing so, you ensure a happy and fulfilling life for both you and your new best friend.
We have a strict policy against re-homing our dogs following adoption for ANY reason. If an adopter is unable to meet the terms of the Adoption Agreement, the dog must be returned to the rescue. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in legal action and significant financial penalties. Our adoption process involves careful consideration of all parties, and we do not cater to those looking for a quick "grab and go" experience without questions or requirements.
We are dedicated to finding permanent homes for each of our animals, and our success relies on our ability to properly screen applicants and address any concerns. Please note that until an adoption is finalized, our clients are the animals we serve, and approval to adopt through our organization is not guaranteed. We reserve the right to refuse any application.
As a licensed rescue, we adhere to the rules and regulations set by the State of Colorado, including City and County restrictions on the number of pets allowed in each home. In instances where regulations differ between the City and County, we must abide by the most conservative ordinance(s).
We also adhere to Breed Specific Legislation (BSL), meaning that if you live in a BSL area (whether you rent or own), we will not approve the adoption of a dog with predominant bully characteristics. BSL is individually assessed on each animal through visual inspection, regardless of breed designations.
Our fencing requirements include 6-foot privacy fencing for dogs with predominant power-breed characteristics, and view fencing with sufficient wire/mesh inserts of at least 5 feet for all other dogs and puppies. Limited fencing options due to terrain and HOA requirements/restrictions will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, with an acceptable containment plan to be reviewed and approved by the rescue. We prioritize the safety of our dogs and therefore, do not consider chain-link fencing due to safety concerns. At White Rose Sanctuary, we are committed to finding forever homes for our animals, and together, we can make a difference in their lives.

How Much Does Adopting Cost?
The cost of adopting a dog from a rescue can vary depending on several factors, including the rescue organization's policies, the dog's age, breed, and medical history. Adoption fees often encompass various expenses such as spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and sometimes even basic training or behavior assessments. While adoption fees range, they generally fall within a few hundred dollars. Ultimately, the cost of adopting a dog from a rescue is a small price to pay for the immeasurable love, loyalty, and joy your new furry friend will bring to your life.

What Is the Difference Between Adopting and Fostering?
Dog adoption and dog fostering are both essential aspects of animal welfare, but they serve different purposes within the realm of rescuing dogs. Adopting a dog involves making a permanent commitment to provide a loving forever home for a rescue dog. This means taking on the responsibilities of ownership, including providing for the dog's long-term care, health, and well-being. Adoption creates a lasting bond between the dog and the adopter, resulting in a lifelong companionship.
On the other hand, dog fostering involves providing a temporary and nurturing environment for a rescue dog until a permanent home can be found. Fostering plays a vital role in helping dogs transition from shelter life to a home environment, offering them socialization, care, and a chance to heal emotionally. Fosters act as stepping stones, helping dogs regain trust and confidence, while also freeing up space in shelters for more dogs in need. Fostering allows individuals to make a significant impact on a dog's life without the full, long-term commitment of adoption. It's a flexible and fulfilling way to contribute to animal welfare, often resulting in successful adoptions and transformed lives.
We also provide a foster to adopt program. This helps with puppies who cannot be adopted until they are fixed, or dogs that have health issues that we are correcting prior to adoption be with their future forever families while growing and/or healing.
Will I need Additional Veterinarian Services?
While all of our dogs are fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered, full bloodwork and heartworm testing done by time of adoption, maintaining an ongoing relationship with a veterinarian is of paramount importance for the health and well-being of your dog. A veterinarian serves as a trusted partner in ensuring that your furry companion receives proper medical care, preventive measures, and timely interventions. Regular check-ups allow for early detection of potential health issues, enabling prompt treatment that can prevent conditions from worsening. Additionally, a veterinarian provides personalized guidance on nutrition, exercise, vaccinations, and parasite control, tailoring their recommendations to your dog's unique needs. This ongoing relationship fosters a comprehensive understanding of your dog's health history, allowing the vet to make informed decisions and provide tailored advice as your dog ages or faces any changes in their health status. Ultimately, the continuity of care provided by a veterinarian contributes to a longer, happier, and healthier life for your beloved canine friend.
